The New Inn, Sampford Courtenay is our excellent village pub, just a short
walk from Weirford House. It has a very warm and friendly atmosphere with a log
fire and is extremely popular. The landlord is a first class chef. The meals are all
home cooked using fresh ingredients and are varied, of excellent quality and
  reasonably priced.
There are always at least two real ales available, served direct from the barrel,
together with a good selection of wines and drinks. The garden is very popular in
the summer. The New inn is open seven days per week during the summer, but in
winter is closed for food Sunday evening and Monday.
Our guests are always delighted by the New Inn and its excellent food.
Booking is essential at busy times. Book direct (01837 82247) or we will be happy
  to book for you. www.newinnsampfordcourtenay.co.uk

The Railway, North Tawton is a very popular traditional
Devon pub with a fantastic atmosphere and excellent real
ales. Good pub food every day except Thursdays. The pub is
next door to the old North Tawton railway station and is easy
to find. The many old photographs of local railway scenes
are a delight to an enthusiast.
The Railway is two miles from Weirford House and worth
the trip, if only for a drink. There is no food on Thursdays.

Shopping and other places to eat.
North Tawton, our nearest shops, two miles from here.
Graylings fish and chips, in the high street. Very good quality at reasonable prices from the takeaway or eat in their excellent restaurant.
The Spar, in the high street. A good selection of basic foods together with many local items. There is a good Butchers and Chemist near the square and a
Burger bar. We have never tried it, but it seems popular.
  Okehampton, five miles from here.
There is a Weatherspoons, two Indian restaurants, fish and chips and several pubs together with a large range of shops. There is a large Waitrose, as well as
  Cooperative and Lidl supermarkets.
